What do you suppose these two Classic Buildings in Pau have to do with Susie and John?

——We started this week by visiting both of them——
On Sunday, December 1, 2024, we have been told we can stay in our apartment on Rue Henri IV until April. We have an opportunity to rent an apartment at the Residence Le France (not knowing exactly where/what it is) from April to October. We make arrangements to see it and are given a time and the address. Much to our surprise it is the building across the Square from Christie and David’s place.
John is to meet Françiose at 4:00 and I am to meet/visit with Christie after we see the apartment at Place Royale.
So, at 3 pm we meet Andrew (Andre?) at the Residence Le France. It’s a beautiful, spacious 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom (with a real bathtub), small efficient kitchen and a large living room/dinning room with lots of cupboards, closets and cubbies. Beautiful, large, high windows that view the Pyrenees, the funicular and the Gare (train station) fill the rooms with gorgeous light. I think we will like it there.
I think it’s those two windows |
Then John goes to meet Françiose in Parc Beaumont. There is a book fair in the Palais Beaumont.
John meets friends and acquaintances of Françiose,
looks at books he can’t read and then buys a calendar.

From Christie and David’s apartment we can see Le Residence…

David is working, so Christie and I escape to Place Clemenceau |
——
Household earrands and preparing for French class fills the week.
But…
Wednesday, there was a change in government, Thursday protest marches happen all over France. Protesters marched past our apartment for about 10 minutes.
A peaceful march.
(Note there are no rifles, guns, nooses or upside down flags)
Thursday eve we go out
All bundled up and ready to go out into the cold |

We meet Françiose and have some Vin Chaud - yum!
We walk home leaving the lights of Centre Ville |
