We settle in and enjoy the city.

After a week of figuring out how to function in a new place…

First a walk toward the Stade Nautique.

Looks good - Lap swimming?

Then we walk toward the train station…

Gare de Pau - Pyrenees-Atlantiques

Now, the funicular up to the Boulevard.

Place Clemenceau

John shows me the Garamond Hotel where he stayed while looking for an apartment for us.

A perfect location…

Restaurants - Japanese on the left, mini mart  and then Phó up the street.

Walking back to the Place - we stop at Le Berry for dinner.

A walk through the Place is delightful at night.
The umbrellas are a little worn after the winds we had later this last week.

On another day, on our walk and we ick up some necessities.

A lot for sale…
The “ruins” on the lot.

On our way to the Tabac…
And bread

The bread store
Bread and a few kinds of cookies

“Our” tabac
Water, wine and potato chips, here for us.

The church on our way home from town…

Walk through the park

Sometimes we go around the back of the Hotel

We get home before it starts raining.

Thursday morning…we wake up to
RAIN!

We decide to take the bus to do our errands today.

After we do our shopping we have something to warm us up before we get the bus home.

Café de l’Europe

Tea and biscuit

John and his Latte

We stop here for take out dinner, but it’s closed

Friday, we do our laundry.

John dragging the rolley bag
With dirty laundry

On the way home we stop and get dinner.
1/w chicken, salad, bread and saffron rice

A nice way to finish up the week. Rotisserie chicken and all the sides

Getting into a routine of retired people…

At LAX - Air France gate 208

I’m tired already

After 15 hours of flight time with a 2 hour layover in Paris which included customs and walking to the domestic terminal for my flight to Pau…
John is there at the Pau Airport with a taxi!

Looking for John

Leaving this lovely little airport

Here’s where we live… Haute Champs de Trespoey!

The Living Room

My first week in Pau…

Sleeping in, finding things in the apartment, shopping and enjoying the views…

Evening view

Looking SSW

Looking NW

Looking toward the Stade Nautique

John enjoying the sun

John takes me out and about…

Into town…

We walk by stately homes/landmarks

And into the heart of the city…

Place de Clemenceau

We look around, and then go to “No Comment” for a beer and burger

Great beer, but we have to wait ‘til 6 for the kitchen to open, so we move on.

We find prepared food on the way home…
Toques et Gourmandises

The next few days, I learn to use the washing machine, shower,
how to cook without an oven and generally use this beautiful apartment.

To celebrate my first week in Pau, John takes me to
“Le Rosbifs”

I am happy!

So ends my first week in Pau, France.
